Mailing List

Mailing List Archives

To subscribe to the NMRView mailing list send an email to:

nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com

The body of the message should contain the single word:

subscribe

The subject line of the message is ignored.
After you send the message you will receive a response from the server to which you must reply to activate your subscription.

The following information describes commands you can send to the mailing list.

There are two parts to this document: the first short part is on how
to SEND MAIL to the list, the second is on how to send COMMANDS
to the list. If you loose this file then you can get the same
information again by sending a HELP command to the list manager
as is shown below.

SENDING MAIL TO THE LIST
========================

To send a message to all nmrview list members, use a message
with the following form:

 --------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject: PROBLEM WITH LOADING PRODUCT

    Can anybody help me unzip my file?
 --------------------------------------------------------------

===============================================================
===============================================================

SENDING COMMANDS TO THE LIST
============================

All of the following sections deal with how to send a command to
the list. You have already done this if you subscribed to the
list yourself.

Commands are written in the BODY of a normal email message. The
email message is then sent to the list manager's special email
address:
   nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com

The list manager controls who belongs to the list and what options
you as a subscriber have set. The list manager has no ego so
please feel free to send messages whenever you like... :-)

Leaving the list (unsubscribing)
================================

To stop receiving messages from the nmrview list you will
need to send a message to the list manager. For example:

 --------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject:

    unsubscribe
 --------------------------------------------------------------

If you are still getting messages after you have received a
message saying you are no longer a member of this list, it could
be that you are subscribed by a different email address. Send
a 'who' request to the nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com address and find your
old name, then send an unsubscribe request like this:
 --------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject:

    unsubscribe %%h_user%%
 --------------------------------------------------------------

Who Command
=================
(Seeing who else is on this list)

If you would like a list of all the email addresses of people on
the nmrview list then you can send the WHO command
to the list manager. Here is an example:

--------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject: (anything)

    who
--------------------------------------------------------------
You will then receive an email message listing all the members,
however this command is not always available.

Lists Command
=============
(Finding out what other lists are available on this server)

If you would like a list of all the lists (just trying to confuse
you there) which are run by the server that is handling this list
then you can send the LISTS command to the list manager. Here
is how:

--------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject:

    lists
--------------------------------------------------------------

Requesting Files
================

This list has a set of files associated with it. These files may
for example contain new software releases, or be an archive of
recent messages to the list etc. The list server provides two
commands to allow you to collect these file: DIR and GET
If you wish to obtain a list of all the files associated with
this list, send the following message to the list manager:

--------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject:

    dir
--------------------------------------------------------------

Now you know the names of the files, you can request one or more
to be sent to you using the GET command. This command has
the following syntax:

get

If you request the files they will be sent to you as attachments
to an email message. For example to have dmail.zip
you could send the following email:

 --------------------------------------------------------------
       From: Peter Rabbit
         To: nmrview-request@onemoonscientific.com
    Subject:

    get dmail.zip
 --------------------------------------------------------------

Synonyms of the Commands
========================

Most of the commands have a number of synonyms which you can use
to effect the same command. They all take the same syntax as the
commands given in the examples above.

You may find it useful to use some of them if they are used by
other lists that you are a member of.

Here is a list of the commands and their synonyms(if they have
any):

help:
join		subscribe,sub
leave		unsubscribe,unsub,leave,signoff,remove
who		enumerate,review,who
dir		index
get		send

After subscribing you may send inquiries to the list by sending messages to:

nmrview@onemoonscientific.com

and hopefully either the author or one of the other subscribers will reply. All users of NMRView are encouraged to aid in supporting the use of NMRView by actively participating in the mailing list.

The messages to the mailing list are not currently archived but we hope to have this feature soon.
