NMRView Runabout Bug! and other NvJ news
I've found a bug in Runabout that is quite serious. When you freeze
assignments the calculated proton and nitrogen shifts that are stored
in the atom assignment table can end up being an average of the
values from two adjacent residues. I've got a fix almost done for
this and should have it ready tomorrow. I'm sorry if this has caused
any serious problems in anyone's analyses.
In other news,
I've been tweaking the RunAbout interface so that it is easier to
setup and spot errors in configuration, and made a number of other
improvements to it.
I've improved plotting and window exporting (with a new "export")
command. This works better for windows containing multiple spectra.
And if you're including other widgets in the print (like buttons etc,
they are drawn in higher resolution than before).
We are working very hard on fundamental stability issues. I know
I've said before that we've tracked down and eliminated issues
involving multiple threads of execution, but people are still
reporting crashes and other odd behavior. One of our difficulties in
finding these bugs is that they are very intermittent and there
hasn't been a good way to debug them. We now have running some very
clever code that checks the whole application while running to find
places where we are doing the wrong thing (thread wise). We've
found and fixed quite a few potential problem areas and are hopeful
that this will finally resolve these issues. It will probably
another few weeks before we release version 7.2 that will have these
fixes.
We have also started some serious profiling and are pretty sure we
can substantially speed up a lot of the GUI.
